Sheerin Abbas Hall
LCSW, Certified EMDR Practitioner, Founder
I am a first-generation immigrant who has a deep understanding of intergenerational trauma and the complex bicultural experience of straddling two cultures.
In my early career, I worked in foster care with children who had suffered the intense trauma of abuse and neglect. I saw the impact of generational trauma on these kids as well as adults, which hit close to home. I founded Roshni Therapy Group specifically to serve those impacted by childhood trauma, BIPOC, immigrants and the children of immigrants because I know how challenging it is to find a mental health professional who has personal insights into these experiences.
I am South Asian American. I have been active in anti-racist work throughout my personal and professional history. I care deeply about social justice, consider myself an intersectional feminist, and am poly and kink aware. My professional focus is on supporting underserved communities and the unique challenges they face. I specialize in working with general trauma, attachment wounds (hurts in those early childhood relationships), and issues with culture and identity.
I constantly seek additional training and knowledge to better serve my clients. I hope to speak to others who, like me, grew up straddling two cultures as children of immigrants who crave connection to their two (or more) cultures, and who may struggle with racial and cultural identities, and who seek an unburdening of their trauma to learn to accept, trust, and hold onto safe and meaningful connections.
